MARDEN MEDICAL CENTRE PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
Who We Are
The NHS requires every Medical Practice in England to have a Patient Participation Group (PPG). The purpose of the PPG is to create a dialogue between patients, doctors and staff, to help the practice work as well as it can for both patients and professionals. This dialogue is critical to the provision of modern, high-quality primary care. Here in Marden the PPG was formed in November 2011 and is a committed and friendly collection of patients who care about the way our surgery works and the service it provides. Membership of the PPG is free of charge and open to all current patients, doctors and staff of Marden Medical Centre Practice. The initiatives and activities of the PPG are organised by a Committee. All PPG members are welcome to attend any Committee meetings, whether to contribute to the discussion or just to listen. Committee meetings are held quarterly and proposed dates can be found here: Meetings The PPG is a not-for-profit organisation, non-party in politics, non-sectarian in religion and non-discriminatory in age, gender and ethnicity. See the following video for more information on PPGs: Widening participation in health and care To understand more about what PPGs are and do, please watch this short 5:27 minute video*. It was produced by the Lambeth CCG, but its helpful messages apply to every PPG. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJOc8p0Yx3Y&feature=youtu.be * with thanks to NHS Lambeth CCG |
"It has been a pleasure to work with the PPG since its formation in 2011. Under the dedicated leadership of the committee, both past and present, the group has flourished. It has been responsible for many innovative projects, all of which have had the goal of improving the health and well-being of our patients and the wider community in Marden." |
